Abstract

A corrosion-resistant, ternary alloy of uranium contains niobium and zirconium in total amount from 2 to 8 per cent each of these two metals being present in an amount of at least 0.1 per cent. The alloy may be solution treated at about 1000 DEG C. for 300-768 hours and then quenched or, after solution treatment it may be soaked at 850 DEG C. and then quenched rapidly, e.g. in brine, or slowly.
