Abstract
799,426. Electric coils. CENTRE D'ETUDES ET DE DEVELOPPEMENTS DE L'ELECTRONIQUE, C.E.D.L. Jan. 17, 1955 [Jan. 15, 1954], No. 1432/55. Class 35. [Also in Group XL (a)] A deflecting system for a cathode-ray tube consists of a pair of spiral rectangular coils, Fig. 7, printed by a photographic process on an insulating sheet 20. The sheet is wrapped around the neck of the tube. The coils are oppositely wound and connected together in series, the circumferential distribution of the turns and their axial lengths varying as a trigonometrical function, e.g. the sine or cosine, of the angle of deflection of the electron beam from the orthogonal plane. The arcuate parts 21 of the turns vary in width so that the potential drop across them is constant. A number of printed sheets may be piled together C, Fig. 8, those printed according to pattern A alternating with those printed according to pattern B. The variation in the turn distribution is obtained in Fig. 7 by varying the widths of the conductors. In other embodiments, the variation is obtained by varying the number of conductors in planes parallel to the orthogonal plane, or by varying the number and thickness of the turns in elementary peripheral portions of the circumference.
