Abstract

791,039. Electron beam deflecting apparatus. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. May 2, 1955 [May 5, 1954], No. 12661/55. Class 39(1). A deflecting coil system for a cathode-ray tube has at least the horizontal deflection coils 3 in the form of trapezium shaped saddle coils, with the longitudinal parts 3<SP>1</SP>, 3<SP>1</SP> overlapping the longitudinal parts 9<SP>1</SP>, 11<SP>1</SP> of the vertical deflection coils 9, 11 at one end, but not at the other. The sum of the radial widths of the coil parts is approximately uniform over the length of the system. The vertical deflection coils 9, 11 can be toroidal coils wound on a ferromagnetic ring instead of the trapezium shaped saddle coils shown. The system shown can be surrounded by a ferromagnetic ring. Specification 640,153 is referred to.
