Abstract

Classes 44, 89(1) and 89(2) [Also in Groups X and XIV] A clip for attaching a member or members to a structural shape C of channelsection having a restricted longitudinal opening 32 afforded by inwardly-projecting portions 29, comprises a projecting channelportion 20 slidable into supporting position in said opening, flanges 22 projecting laterally from said channel portion to seat upon outwardly-facing surfaces of said inwardlyprojecting portions 29, and an extension 39 from one or each of said flanges for securing the member or members thereto, said clip having a clamping member B of a width to pass through the longitudinal opening during sliding of the clip to said position and of a length so that it can be turned to a position with its end portions behind inner surfaces of said projecting portions 29, and means 23 for moving and holding the clamping member to, and in a position so that its end portions and said flanges are in clamping engagement with said projecting portions 29. As shown in Fig. 3, the means 23 is a screw which passes through an aperture in the base of the channel portion and which engages a threaded hole in the clamping member B The extension can have a similar projecting channel portion, clamping member and screw for securing another similar channel shape to the first channel shape and the channel portion can be arranged so that the shapes are parallel with each other or at right angles to each other. More than one extension can be provided. The extension can have inwardly-directed teeth for biting into a panel to secure it to the structural shape or it can be a' U-shaped clip for connecting the panel. In a further modification, two extensions are provided which are in the form of hooks and which are used for connecting another structural shape to the back of the structural shape carrying the clip.
