Abstract

794,047. Mixing-machines. BEKEN H. F. June 28, 1956 '[July 27, 1955]. No. 21707/55. Class 86 [Also in Group XXIV] In a mixing machine comprising blades or paddles mounted on one or more shafts 2, each shaft is fitted with a replaceable collar or sleeve-18 where it passes through a gland 20 in the machine wall 1, the sleeve being provided with a capillary duct 23 through which a lubricant may be passed to its gland. The sleeve 18 may be secured to the shaft by a key 19, and it may be split longitudinally into two portions to facilitate fitting and removal; preferably it is made from a corrosion-resistant material, such. as, stainless steel. The duct 23 leads from a lubricating nipple 26 to a radial duct 24 and a groove 25 which mates with the packing in the gland 20. The invention is shown applied to a machine provided with two pairs of hollow blades which are of helical form and are mounted on parallel shafts having inlet and outlet ducts 3, 4 for steam or other heat-transfer medium and the inner surfaces of which are increased by the provision of corrugations. &c. 6.
