376,571. Stuffing-boxes. MORTERUD, K., Torderod, near Moss, Norway. Oct. 10, 1931, No. 28205. Convention date, Oct. 13, 1930. [Class 122 (v).] In a stuffing-box for a rotating shaft, in which cooling liquid is supplied to the interior of the shaft through channels in the stuffing-box, the inlet and outlet channels are formed in loose rings 6, 8, which are placed in a recess in the gland, and are packed by packing 9 compressed by an auxiliary gland 10. The cooling liquid enters by a passage 15 and passes to the interior of the shaft by a perforation 4. The liquid is distributed by an inner tube 3 to a perforation leading to the ring 8 and escapes by a passage 14.
