Abstract

563,246. Knitting-machines. BOOTH, T. Jan. 15, 1943, No. 795. [Class 74 (ii)] Means are provided for converting a beret or other knitting-machine normally arranged to knit a single course at each operating stroke so that it knits two or more courses at each stroke. The means comprises a plate 1 arranged to be secured to the existing slide by the original screws and holding together cams for giving the double or multiple movements of the needles for each operating stroke. The knitting cams 2 are adjustable to vary the length of stitch. The yarn guides 14 are also secured to the usual slide by the original screws by a plate 9, the guides being held at a predetermined distance apart by springs 12, so that at the ends of the stroke the guides can be moved towards each other at the edge of the knitted fabric.
