Abstract

A method of applying conductive solderable metal coatings to ceramics, e.g. to form electrodes for ceramic capacitors, comprises initially applying to the ceramic a flash coating of nickel from the pyrolysis of nickel carbonyl, then electroplating a flash coating of nickel over the first coating, and finally electroplating a solderable metal coating, of thickness greater than the added thickness of the flash coatings, over the electroplated nickel. The solderable metal is preferably copper.
