781,698. Load-supporting platforms. BLACKBURN & GENERAL AIRCRAFT, Ltd., CLARK, F. M., and STAMPER, J. T. May 18, 1956, No. 15609/56. Class 94(1). A platform for supporting a load to be dropped by parachute from an aircraft, comprises channel-section frame members 5 to 8, Fig. 2, e.g. of light metal alloy, having lugs 9, 10 at their ends releasably interconnected by pins or bolts 11, the flanges of each channel section 1, Fig. 1, supporting a crushable beam comprising surface sheets 2, 3, e.g. of light metal alloy, plywood or thick resin-impregnated paper, having between them a low density filling 4, e.g. of resin-bonded paper honeycomb material, foamed plastic or resin-bonded fibres. The frame members may be provided with guide rails and means facilitating the attachment of load-lashing lines or a securing net. When the load hits the ground, the beam fails in compression thus absorbing the shock of impact and preventing damage to the load and frame members, the latter being salvaged for re-use,
