Abstract

919,676. Cradles for suspending loads from parachutes. BLACKBURN AIRCRAFT Ltd. Sept. 28, 1961, No. 34944/61. Addition to 820,968. Class 78 (4). A platform for supporting wheeled vehicles dropped by parachute consists of a frame supporting crushable pads 19, 20 for supporting the wheels of the vehicle. The frame consists of side members 1, 2 joined by end members 3, 4 which are further joined by a pair of longitudinals 8, 9 which support wooden base boards 12, 13. Two pairs of transverse members 14, 15 support the pads 19, 20. The members forming the frame are of T or angle section and are bolted together by threaded spigots such as 5. The side members may be formed with devices 24 for eng aging guides on the aircraft and with lashing bobbins 25. The end member 4 may carry a release unit 26. Wooden rubbing strips may be provided on the side members 1, 2. The positions of the blocks 19, 20 and of the transversals 14, 15, 16, 17 may be varied to suit different vehicles.
