Class 79(3) The invention relates to semi-trailers of the kind having a front wheel set mounted so as to be displaceable between a raised travelling position and a lowered parking position. According to the invention, the front wheel set includes two aligned torsion bars 7, 9, each having a crank 3 for supporting a wheel 1 and a lever 8 pivoted on the chassis frame 10 and arranged to rotate the cranks 3 through the bars 7, 9 to raise and lower the wheels 1. The lever 8 is forked and pivotally carries a block 11 which is in threaded engagement with a rod 14. The latter is constrained against axial movement and is in bevel gear engagement with a rod 17 connected to a crank handle 18 at the side of the chassis frame. By means of the handle 18, the wheels 1 can thus be lowered from a retracted position to an extended position (shown dotted), for parking the semi-trailer. The connection of the handle 18 to the rod 17 is articulated at 21. In addition to the flexibility of the suspension provided by the torsion bar 7, a flexible abutment 22 is fixed on either side of the chassis.
