Abstract
424,644. Spring frames and carriers for cycles. VINCENT, P. C., and VINCENT H. R. D. CO., Ltd., Great North Road, Stevenage, Hertfordshire. Aug. 26, 1933, No. 23773. [Classes 136 (i) and 136 (iii)] In a bicycle spring frame of the type having an auxiliary rear wheel-carrying frame pivoted to the main frame, a luggage or passenger carrying platform is pivoted directly at or near its front end to the main frame, and is connected at or near its rear end to the rear frame by a link, or a pair of links, articulated at one end to the platform, and at the other end to the rear frame, and so arranged that an upward movement of the rear wheel produces a proportional (preferably smaller) movement of the rear end of the platform. The rear wheel-carrying frame 11 is pivoted at 12 to the main frame 10 and is controlled by spring cylinders 14. The luggage or passenger platform 16 is pivoted at 18 to a T-shaped extension 15 of the main frame, and is connected at the rear by a pair of pivoted links 19 to lugs 23 on the rear frame 11. The lugs 23 may be fixed or adjustable, and the links 19 may each be formed in two telescopic parts with an interposed spring. The links are so arranged that the movement of the rear end of the platform under shocks is substantially less than that of the rear wheel axle.
