715,410. Steering vehicles. BAYERISCHE MOTOREN WERKE AKT.-GES. May 12, 1952 [May 11, 1951], No. 11934/52. Class 79(5) [Also in Group XXXII] Independent suspension of the steered front wheels of power driven vehicles, comprises as part of the supporting and guiding linkage for each wheel, parallel transverse tie rods through which steering motion is transmitted to a stub axle carrier. In the arrangement shown, a pair of steering tierods 1, 2 are pivotally connected at their outer ends to a swivel arm 4 rigid with a steering knuckle 5 mounted on a swivel pin 7 and at their inner ends are pivotally connected to a lever 8 which is angularly movable by means of a spindle 16 mounted on a chassis frame 17 and forming part of a steering linkage. A lower link 10 is pivotally connected at its outer end to the swivel-pin 7 and at its inner end to a tubular part 11 rotatably mounted on the chassis frame 17. A torsion rod 12 constituting a suspension spring, is arranged within the tube 11. Each wheel is steerable independently of the other.
