Abstract

779,588. Land-rollers. DINGLERWERKE AKT.-GES. June 24, 1955 [March 14. 1955], No. 18370/55. Class 6(1). A vibratory roller comprises a hollow body 1 within which are mounted a plurality of rotating unbalanced masses 7, 17, 19 which are normally in fixed relation to one another but can be displaced mutually to vary the vibration amplitude. The roller-body 1 is driven through gearing 3 and a pinion 23 engaging a circumferential internal gear on the roller shell. A motor 4 drives an axle 6 through belts 5 ; the axle 6 carries an eccentric mass 7 but is concentric with the roller shell 1 and is keyed to a pinion 9 and to a rotatable member 11. The member 11 carries a pinion 13 which is axially slidable to engage either both the pinion 9 and a second pinion 15, or the pinion 15 only. The pinion 15 is secured to an eccentric mass 17 which is connected to a second eccentric mass 19 by a tubular cover 18 for the shaft 6. While the pinion 13 meshes with both the pinions 9, 15 the mass 7 is fixed relatively to the pair of masses 17, 19, but by displacing the pinion 13 inwardly through an insertable key, the eccentricity of the masses 17, 19 relatively to the mass 7 can be increased or decreased.
