Abstract

634,778. Vibratory mechanism. STORER. A.. and STORER. J. A. May 28, 1946, No. 16105. [Class 80 (iv)] A vibratory unit for a vibration machine comprises pulleys 12, 13 having unbalanced weights 12a, 13a, thereon, keyed to sleeves 11, which are rotatably mounted on a shaft 10, the whole being mounted in a housing 7 having a top plate 8. A member 14 secured to the shaft 10 forms the support for bevel gears 15 which mesh with gears 16 secured to the adjacent ends of sleeves 11. The pulleys are rotated in opposite directions and due to the centrifugal forces of the unbalanced weights, a vibratory motion occurs in the plane in which two weights coincide. This plane may be varied by rotation of the shaft 10 by means of the crank 17 carrying a spring loaded plunger 18 which may engage any one of a series of semi-circularly arranged holes in a plate 19 fixed to the housing. The plane of vibration may be varied whilst the machine is working.
