775,784. Boundary layer control. BLACKBURN & GENERAL AIRCRAFT, Ltd. Oct. 13, 1955 [Oct. 14, 1954], No. 29670/54. Class 4. [Also in Group XXVI] Air under pressure is fed to the interiors of blades 11 of the diffuser 3 of a centrifugal compressor 2 in a combustion turbine engine. The air issues from slots 12 in the blades at a small angle to the surface, to energize the boundary layer. A slot may be provided in each side of the blade, or on one side only, Fig. 3, permitting reversal of the blade curvature.
