Abstract

834,800. Turbine-driven fans. MINISTER OF SUPPLY. March 28, 1956 [April 6, 1955], No. 10159/55. Classes 110 (1) and 110 (3). [Also in Group XXXIII] A variable output constant speed turbine driven fan comprises a rotor 21 carrying a row of axialflow fan rotor blades 23 and a row of axial-flow turbine rotor blades 24 mounted radially outside the flow rotor blades, and a row of angularly adjustable, axial-flow, fan-stator blades 33 arranged in series - flow relationship with the fan-rotor-blades to vary the fan output. The angularly adjustable fan-stator blades are operatively linked to the variable area nozzle 41, 38 of the turbine so that for given conditions of temperature and pressure at the turbine inlet the rotor speed is substantially constant over a range of output of the fan. The configuration of the turbine and fan blades is illustrated in Figs. 4, 5 (not shown), respectively. Specification 811,840 is referred to.
