A plug cock having a housing 1 and a plug 5 is provided with a plug seat 2 having a floating action relative to the housing 1, the seat being mounted on flexible packing rings 3 and 3<SP>1</SP> and retained in the housing by a cap member 4. The plug 5 is maintained in close engagement with the seating by a spring 6.
