768,188. Diaphragm apparatus for discharging receptacles. SOC. EREC SOC. D'ETUDES, DE REALISATIONS ET D'EXPLOITATIONS COMMERCIALES. Feb. 28, 1955 [March 3, 1954], No. 5915/55. Class 102(2) [Also in Group XXXVI] The inert cells 4 of a battery are activated by the displacement of the electrolyte contained in the pockets 6 located above the cells. Each cell is provided with a pocket 6 having a passageway 5 communicating at its bottom with the cell. The pockets have a yieldable sealing element 7 blocking the passageway 5, and a cover member 8 of extensible non-conducting material. When the spring loaded member 9 is released, the member 8 is forced downwardly as in Fig. 2 causing the element 7 to yield and thus allow the electrolyte to flow into the cells. The extensible member 8 may consist of a single sheet covering all the pockets 6 or separate sheets, one for each pocket.
