Abstract

767,778. Winding yarn. SCHARER, K. J. [trading as MASCHINENFABRIK SCHARER]. Oct. 18, 1954 [Dec. 31, 1953], No. 29890/54. Class 120 (2). A reciprocable drive for traversing the thread guide 8 of a winding machine comprises a pair of articulated links 18, 19, the link 19 being connected to a slider 17 reciprocated in a tubular guide 12 by a cam 2, and the link 18 being connected to a slider 9, 10, 11 to which the guide 8 is attached. The pivot 20 between the links 18, 19 is carried on a further slide 21 which moves along a guideway 22 pivoted adjustably at 24 and progressively moved thereabout by gearing 26, 25 operated by a pawl and ratchet 34, 35 (not shown) from a shaft 29 through a friction clutch. By a suitable choice of the position of the pivot 24 &c. a variety of differently shaped packages may be wound, several of which are illustrated in Figs. 5-12 (not shown).
