Class 39(2) In an electric lamp of the kind provided with a planar filament 11 supported between upper and lower transverse supports 8, 9 of insulating material carried between longitudinal leading-in supporting wires or rods 2 parallel with the axis of the bulb 1, the filament supporting wires 12, 13 which engage between the segments are so arranged, at least above the filament, that their ends are secured at the side of the insulating support 8 remote from the filament. Fig. 2.shows the supporting wire 12 curved away from the insulating supporting-rod 8 at 12a and secured within the upper surface of the rod at 12b. A V- shaped groove may be provided in the rod 8 to receive the ends of the wires 12. 13. Alternatively the insulating supporting- rods may have a triangular cross-section. Fig. 5 shows an upper transverse support 22 of inverted triangular cross-section with the end portions of filament-supporting wires 23, 24 inserted in the base or upper surface. A wire 25 joining the transverse support 22 to a longitudinal support 26 has its outer end arranged similarly.
