Abstract

927,237. Incandescent electric lamp mount structures. SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS Inc. Sept. 6, 1960 [Sept. 14, 1959], No. 30719/60. Class 39 (2). A mount structure for an incandescent lamp in which the axis of the filament substantially coincides with the longitudinal axes of the lamp comprises a stem press and a pair of lead-in wires of unequal length extending generally in the direction of the filament axis and terminating in inwardly turned portions to which the ends of the filament are attached, the lead-in wires diverging from one another as they emerge from the stem and then lying parallel to the filament, part of the larger lead-in wire parallel to the filament being flattened to impart greater stiffness thereto. In the form shown, the filament 16 is attached to the inturned ends 10a, 12a of the lead-in wires 10, 12. The stem press 4 carries a heat shield 8 and glass arbor 18. The ends 10b, 12b of the lead-in wires are embedded in the press 4 and diverge from one another. The arbor 18 carries wires 22, 24, 26, the wires 24, 26 encircling the lead-in wires and the wire 22 encircling the middle of the filament. The larger lead-in wire is flattened up to the point where it is opposite the rear end of the filament and is then bent first one way then the other out of the plane of the filament.
