Abstract

1,043,086. Electric incandescent lamps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Jan. 24, 1964 [Feb. 7, 1963], No. 3152/64. Addition to 1,041,392. Heading H1F. The lamp comprises an envelope 10 of vitreous material having a pinch seal 11 at one end through which pass lead-in conductors 13 having foliated portions 12 embedded in the pinch, to which are connected the ends of the filament 14. Short mandrel wires 15 are inserted in the ends of the filament and the bight of the filament is supported by a V-shaped wire 17, the ends of which are sealed in the pinch and the central part of which has a loop 16 for supporting the filament. The lamp is gas filled, e.g. with argon and a small quantity of iodine through a tubular end of the envelope opposite the pinch which is subsequently sealed off at 18. During the formation of the pinch the support 17 may be supported by a hook passing through the tubular end.
