Abstract

759,907. Discharge lamps. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. June 11, 1953, No. 16112/53. Class 39 (1). The envelope 1 of a discharge lamp is resiliently supported within an outer envelope 5 by a pair of resilient metal support members 14 having central portions 12 apertured at 18 to rest over the ends of the envelope 1 and having T- shaped portions 15 bearing resiliently, at portions 16 spaced at 90 degrees, against the inner wall of the outer envelope, the support members 14 being welded at 19 to nickel support wires 7, 8 positioned parallel to the axes of the envelopes. The lower ends of the wires 7, 8 are welded to a cross-member 9 welded to the wires 10 sealed into a mount 11, one of the wires 10 constituting a leading-in wire. The support wire 8 acts as a conductor for the electrode at the upper end of the envelope 1. The ends of the envelope 1 are provided with inwardly-reflecting surfaces 3, 4.
