758,201. Sharpening apparatus. SCHOLL MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd. Oct. 22,1954 [Oct. 22, 1953], No. 29255/53. Class 60 An apparatus for sharpening knife and and other blades comprises two grinding or like wheels 1, 2 rotatably mounted on two separate frame members 4, 8 one of which is pivoted with respect to the other about an axis 10, means 16 for urging one frame towards the other to press the two wheels together, and means whereby a drive can be imparted to one wheel. The means 16 may consist of a compression spring or balance weight or, as shown, a tension spring may be used. One end of the shaft on which the wheel 1 is mounted is adapted to be engaged by a flexible shaft driven by an electric motor while both wheel shafts are either mounted in split bearings or held in place by plates such as 11 so that they may be removed when the wheels are to be dressed. The wheels may be lightly dressed with grease and a hood 22 provided to cover the apparatus.
