756,642. Tricycles. ELSWICK-HOPPER CYCLE & MOTOR CO., Ltd. Jan. 7, 1955 [Aug. 30, 1954], No. 25160/54. Class 136 (3). In a tricycle frame of the kind comprising a cross-member 10 for carrying the rear wheels detachably secured to the lower end of a saddle supporting member 12, a socket 23 is secured to the member 12 and is provided with a channel extending transversely of the member 12 and arranged to accommodate the cross-member 10 and a clamping plate 27 overlies the crossmember 10 and the channel and is provided with means for securing it to the socket 23. The clamping plate 27 is brazed or welded to the cross-member 10 and is provided with lugs 28, 29 which are arranged opposite lugs 25, 26 on the socket member 23. The lugs 25, 26 are provided with screw-threaded holes while the lugs 28, 29 have registering plain holes through which securing screws 30, 31 extend. Alternatively, as shown in Fig. 4, two pairs of upwardly and downwardly extending lugs 32, 33 are provided. The socket 23 receives the rear end of a frame member 22 the forward end of which is secured to a tubular member 19 for receiving the steering pillar.
