[Also in Group XXV] A clamp 4 for a flat conductor comprises a metal body (Fig. 7) cleft to provide limbs 5a, 5b with a slot 6 between them for the reception of the conductor, the body having at least one hole through both limbs near their free end for the reception of a locating screw transfixing the conductor and another hole nearer the base of the cleft through one or both limbs in which a clamping screw 8 is inserted to bear against the conductor or to attach the clamp to another body. Two locating screws 14, 15 may be provided. Two flat conductors may be connected by inserting both in the cleft. The rear face of the clamp may have a part-circular recess 20, and a clamping bar 21, which may be flat or have a complementary recess 22, may be screwed against this face to form a circular or part-circular passage for the reception of an earthing conductor. Alternatively the recessed bar 21 may be screwed against the flat lower face of the clamp, or against a recessed extension thereon. In another embodiment (Fig. 10), the clamping screw 17a, provided with nut 32, projects from a recessed mounting member 24 against which the flat or recessed bar 21 is screwed. In a further modification the clamp 4 is provided with a second cleft, also transfixed by the clamping screw, for the reception of an additional conductor, or to enable the clamp to be fixed to a pipe.
