A safety device for the user of a ladder comprises a bent member 2 supported on rungs 9, 10 and astride which the user stands, and rests against a curved member 4 welded to the projecting end of the member 2 and the ends of which are connected to the ladder sides by chains 5. A modified form is made from tubing.
