726,472. Making paper &c. bags. BARTELT, H. L., and BARTELT, D. E. May 27, 1953 [June 3, 1952], No. 14775/53. Class 94 (2). To form a bag which assumes a squared shape automatically when opened' for filling, Fig. 4, a strip of thermally inert material is coated on one side with a thermo-sensitive substance and folded to form a bellows fold 18, 19, and front and back panels 16, Fig. 1. The front and back panels are joined by heatsealing along their edges 17, and triangular seals 23 are made across each bottom corner. The bags may be made from a web 34 from a roll 35, Fig. 7, which is folded longitudinally over a former and provided with a bellows fold by means of a blade (not shown). At station 39 a pair of heated shoes seal the web at 17a, corresponding to the seals 17 and 23, and the web is severed at station 42 to form the bags, which are then opened by air from a nozzle 45, and filled from a dispenser 46.
