Abstract

1,227,060. Gusseted carrier bag. CANADIAN INDUSTRIES Ltd. 31 Dec., 1969 [15 Jan., 1969], No. 63519/69. Heading A4G. A gusseted bag of heat-sealable plastics film comprises front and back panels 1, 2, Fig. 7, with side 3, 4 and bottom 5 gusset panels, the two side gusset panels containing heat-sealed seams 6, 8 and 7, 9 of inverted Y formation joining extensions of the bottom, front and back panels to form the side panels, the side and bottom gusset panels being inter-folded at the bag corners when the bag is flattened. The bag is manufactured from a web to the ends of which handles 10 are secured between the web and a strip of plastics or plasticscoated paper 11 by heat-sealing at 12, Fig. 1. The web is folded with a gusset 5 to bring the handles and mouth edges together, the side edges are heat-seamed at 6, 7, diagonal heat-seams 8, 9 join a respective gusset infold with its adjacent front or back panel and the bottom corners are removed up to seams 8, 9. The side edges are then infolded to form the side gussets.
