726,042. Seats. LORENZ, A. Aug. 6, 1953 [Aug. 15, 1952], No. 21701/53. Class 52 (2). An adjustable reclining chair, settee, &c. having its rocking movements controlled by a constrained linkage including the seat and back or extensions thereof is provided with a leg rest in operative connection with the linkage such that when the chair &c. is moved, by the occupant, to fully reclined position the leg rest is not only brought up to support the occupant's legs but is moved forwardly from the seat so that full support of the legs of a tall person may be assured. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the seat 36 and back 30 are mounted on fixed pivots 34 on the support 20 and the movable links comprise back extension 32, lower link 42, guiding link 48 pivoted to the support 20 at 52. The leg support 54 is carried by an extension 58 of the link 42 and by a link 64, the extension 58 and link 64 being pivoted to a lever or link 60 having an extension 38 pivoted to the seat at 40. Fig. 2 shows the chair in fully reclined position, wherein the leg rest 54 is substantially horizontal and moved forwardly from the seat 36. Fig. 12 shows a chair having integral seat and back 530, 536 pivoted to the support 520 at 534. In this case the lower link is in two parts 542, 586, their adjacent ends being pivoted as shown to the guiding link 504 which is pivoted on the support 520 at 506. The action and linkage of the leg rest 554 is similar to that shown in Figs. 1 and 2. Various other modifications of the mounting and linkage of the chair with its leg rest are described in the Specification.
