Abstract
An alloy for addition to cast iron, to form sphero-crystalline carbon therein, has the following composition Mg 10-30 per cent, Ca 5-30 per cent, Si 40-80 per cent. The alloy may also contain Fe up to 5 per cent and one or more of Cu, Ni, Cr and Al up to 15 per cent in total.
