Abstract

An iron alloy for casting contains 3,5 per cent of carbon, 2 per cent of silicon, 0,5 per cent of copper, 0,05 per cent of sulphur, 0,5 per cent of manganese, 0,2 per cent of phosphorus, 0,5 per cent of chromium, and 2,5 per cent of nickel, or within 5 per cent of these proportions, the combined proportions of copper and silicon being maintained at 2,5 per cent. In making the alloy, the various constituents may be used in elemental form where practicable.
