Class 39 (1) An electrostatic precipitator comprises at least two corrugated collecting electrodes, each having sharp corrugations with a radius of curvature at the crest of 1.5 to 5 millimetres, the distance d between two adjacent corrugations being 2 to 3.5 times the height h of the corrugations, and the height of the corrugations being not more than one-fourth of the distance between two adjacent corrugated electrodes. Fins may be provided on the electrodes. As shown in Fig. 3, each electrode may be composed of.channel members b, c with corrugated bottoms, arranged side by side and facing alternately in opposite directions. The electrodes may be provided with dust-catching strips extending horizontally across the corrugations. The crests of the corrugations may be coated with non- or semi-conducting material.
