720,282. Deformity appliances. ERNST, G. A. Sept. 18, 1952 [Sept. 21, 1951], No. 22208/51. Class 81 (2). A spinal support comprises a pair of substantially vertical rigid dorsal support members spaced to lie on each side of the wearer's spine and a pair of substantially vertical frontal support members carried by substantially rigid rib members hinged to the dorsal members, straps or lacings being provided to maintain the rib members in tension around the wearer with the frontal members slightly spaced apart. The dorsal members are constituted by opposite sides of a rectangular frame 1. Rib members 4 for passing round the hips, waist and lower part of the chest are secured to the rectangular frame 1 by hinges 3 and rigidly attached to the frontal members 5. Straps 6 and buckles 7 are provided. All the members are padded and covered and may be interconnected by coutil or similar material to form a corset-like garment.
