Abstract

719,579. Valves. EVERED & CO., Ltd. Aug. 28, 1953 [June 4, 1952], No. 14053/52. Class 135 In a valve for controlling the flow of gas in a line of the kind in which the valve 6 is carried by a diaphragm 7 and a controlled flow of gas passes from the inlet 5a through a restriction 9a and through a control chamber 8a above the diaphragm, a pin 11 which acts as an adjustable stop to prevent the valve from closing completely on to its seat also acts to control a bye-pass passage 5l between the inlet 5a and outlet 5b. The restriction 9a is provided in an adjustable plug 9, and the flow through the chamber 8a and, hence, the pressure therein acting on the diaphragm 7 is regulated by means of a thermostat, clock &c. which controls an outlet 10 from the chamber. The bye-pass passage through the pin 11 consists of a circumferential groove 11a so that, as the pin is screwed in to set its upper end in the required position to act as a stop; the bye-pass passage is simultaneously opened and adjusted.
