Abstract

1536176 Fluid-pressure servomotor systems BOC Ltd 21 Oct 1977 [22 Oct 1976] 44085/76 Heading G3P A device for controlling the pressure of fluid in an outlet 2 comprises a regulator 3 divided by diaphragms 14, 18 into a control chamber 15, an intermediate chamber 19 and a main flow chamber 20 through which fluid flows from an inlet 6 to the outlet 2 under the control of a closure member 24, and a conduit 34 including a pressure regulator 35 and connecting the inlet 6 with the control chamber 15, actuations of the regulator 35 supplying fluid to the chamber 15 to cause the diaphragm 14 to actuate a valve-member 17 to admit fluid from the inlet 6 to the chamber 19 via passage 29 to act on the diaphragm 18 to move the valve-member 24 to supply fluid to the outlet 2. The device is used to control the pressure of cutting oxygen supplied to jets 1 and is started by opening solenoid valve 8 and setting the required pressure using the regulator 35, which may include a gauge; to turn off the flow the valve 8 is closed and solenoid valve 42 is opened to vent the control chamber 15 through non-return valve 44.
