Abstract
718,880. Stapling. WALKER, Ltd., T. March 24, 1953 [Jan. 12, 1953], No. 820/53. Class 89(3) A machine for inserting single staples &c. comprises a rotary staple holder 11 carried by an arm 10 which is pivoted at 9 on a base 5 provided with an anvil 6, and a driver arm 23 mounted on the same pivot and operable by a pedal through a link 24. The staple holder 11 which is provided with a spring-retracted driving plunger 16 and a recess 20 to receive a staple 1, is normally held by a spring 14 in the position shown in Fig. 3 with the recess 20 facing forwardly, but is rotated through 90 degrees, when the arm is lowered, by a cam 33 engaging a fixed arm 35, thereby bringing the staple over' the work which is held in position by a spring member 38. The arm 23 is raised by a spring 30 and' the arms 10, 23 are spaced apart by a spring 26, Fig. 1 (not shown). The holder 11 is restored to its normal position by a cam 34 engaging with the arm 35. The staple may be held in the recess 20 by a spring-pressed plunger 21. The machine is described as applied to the attachment of a loop to a trouser waistband for co-operation with a hook.
