Abstract

718,856. Capping electric lamps. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Dec. 1, 1952, [Dec. f, 1951.] No. 30379/52. Class 39 (2). In order to connect the end of a leading-in wire 6, Fig. 5, to the contact disc 9 on the end of a lamp cap 7, the disc is formed with a domeshaped boss or portion 13 provided with an aperture 14 in its upper surface through which the leading-in wire is inserted with a short end portion 19 projecting, this end being next bent down on to the outside of the boss, as at 20, Fig. 7, and engaged by a rotating die 21. The end of the wire is thereby spun down against the boss, and rolls the annular top edge of the metal inwardly against the wire to clamp it in position within the aperture 14.
