Abstract
714,232. Toothed gearing. STOECKICHT, W. G. Nov. 10, 1952 [Nov. 10, 1951], No. 28298/52. Class 80 (1) In an epicyclic gear in which the sun wheel or the annulus is coupled to. its driving or driven shaft or member by a pivotal connection to allow of the equalisation of the tooth forces on the planet pinions, the tooth engagement between the sun or annulus and the planet pinions is made slighty convex, preferably by making the teeth of the planet pinions slightly convex as shown in Fig. 2. In Fig. 1, the sun gear 2 is coupled to shaft 8 through a toothed connection 9, 10 and engages planet pinions 3 on a carrier 5 secured to. a shaft 7. The annulus 6 is held stationary by a toothed coupling 12, 13 to a ring 14. The invention is also applicable to a similar arrangement of gearing in which the carrier member 5 is held stationary to form with the gears 2 and 6 a multi-countershaft gear. The toothed couplings 9, 10 and 12, 13 may be replaced by rubber or other flexible couplings.
