Abstract

713,563. Dolls &c. POPPER, F., and POPPER, E. Jan. 1, 1953 [Jan. 7, 1952], No. 527/52. Class 132(3) A soft-bodied doll has a pair of spring- loaded jaw members 2, 3 mounted on a frame within the body and a lever 7 pivoted to the frame so,that, on moving the lever towards the frame, the jaws are opened and a squeaker 5 is operated. As shown, a rod 1, forming the frame, carries, at the top, jaw member 2, to which jaw member 3 is secured by a spring clip 4, a bellows type squeaker 5 and a pivoted wire lever 7 having an arm 9 extending over the bellows. Lever 7 carries a link 10 engaging an extension of jaw member 3. Thus on pressing lever 7 the jaws open and the bellows are squeezed to cause a squeak. In a modification, Fig. 3, the jaw members 12, 14 extend longitudinally from the rod 1 and member 14 is operated by an extension 13 of lever 7. In a further modification, which may be adapted for use with jaw members perpendicular to rod 1 as shown in Fig. 1, the movable jaw member is formed by an extension of lever 7, Fig. 3, held against the fixed jaw member by a rubber band.
