Abstract

556,163. Dolls. HENKLEMANN, A. C. H. March 19,1942, No. 3684. Convention date, March 26, 1941. [Class 132 (iii)] In a mechanism for moving the lips of a doll when an arm is moved, one of two lip-carrying members is moved by a spring- actuated bar which has a movable pawl for cooperation with a projection on the arm of the doll to displace said bar on swing- ing the arm in one direction. As shown, the upper lip 1 is carried by a spring member 7 secured to a frame, and the lower lip 2 is carried by lever 9 pivoted to the frame and spring- urged into contact with member 7. Rod 18, spring- urged into upper position, is pivoted to lever 13 hinged to the frame and bearing at its other end an annulus surrounding bar 16 and placed between two pins 17 on the bar. The lower end of rod 18 carries a pawl 20 free to turn upwards but not downwards. One or both arms are rotatable on axle 4 which has two projections 5, 6. Normally, the parts are as shown with the lips apart, but when the arm is moved forward, the projections 5, 6 in turn depress and release pawl 20 and rod 18 so that lever 13 operates the bellows 15, and a top pin 17 depresses member 7 twice so that the doll visibly and audibly pronounces a bisyllable.
