712,723. Optical projection apparatus. VITARAMA CORPORATION. June 3, 1952, No. 13978/52. Class 97(1) Pictures optically projected to form a mosaic are overlapped slightly, the projectors being provided with stationary masks which produce complementary gradations of brightness in the overlapping zone so that there are no noticeable discontinuities of brightness in the mosaic. Each mask may comprise a transparent base carrying a metallic film of graduated thickness or an opaque shield with a serrated edge. The form shown in Fig. 5, across which the film 16 moves in contact, comprises a filter glass 42 shaped to a feather edge at 45 and mating with a transparent plate 47. A cylindrical boundary 44 produces a sufficiently exact transmission characteristic.
