Class 5 (1) Air is drawn through the outer wall 2 of a grain silo and through a central stack 4 by suction applied to a base conduit 6. The stack 4 consists of wire mesh around a metal rod frame ; the top 5 and bottom 3 are impermeable. The base of the silo may be conical. The upper part of the stack may project above the silo cover, in which case the lid is hinged and tiltable by cord from the outside.
