Abstract

740,308. Screw elevators. ANDRIANI, N. Jan. 12, 1954 [June 3, 1953], No. 849/54. Class 78 (1). A worm elevator 4 for materials of a semifluid consistency or in granular form comprising a sump 1 for the material and a smooth-walled vertical tube 3 depending into it and surrounding the worm is characterized by the feature that at least a portion of the worm is generated by a line which is inclined downwards. In a modification the worm extends to the bottom of the sump and the portion below the tube is generated by a line which inclines upwards. The diameter of this portion also decreases progressively towards the bottom. In another modification the bottom of the tube is frustoconical and the portion of the worm below the tube is generated by a horizontal line, has an upstanding rim along its outer edge and progressively increases in diameter towards the bottom.
