722,562. Pneumatic conveyers; shoots and hoppers. EONIT ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Aug. 12, 1953 [Aug. 14, 1952], No. 20483/52. Class 78 (1). An elevator 10 delivers material, such as cement, through a shoot 13 to a hopper 14 which is mounted in the upper part of a silo 1 and is connected by a shoot 15 to the hopper of a weighing apparatus 16. Excess material overflows from the hopper 14 into the silo and passes through shoots 4, 7 and a junction-box 8 to the boot of the elevator. The junction-box 8 is connected also by a shoot 12 to a shallow feed hopper 11 to which the material is delivered by a lorry. This hopper has a hinged waterproof cover 47 which is raised and lowered by a winch-actuated cable 48. The material in the hopper rests on a flexible porous diaphragm, such as canvas stretched over wire frames fitted with wire mesh, through which low-pressure air is passed as described in Specification 722,561. The shoots 4, 7, 12, 15 and the junction-box 8 are provided with similar means for aerating the material. Means is provided for cutting-off the supply of air to the hopper 11 when it is empty and only material from the silo is being supplied to the hopper 14.
