Abstract

710,297. Lens mounts. HILGER & WATTS, Ltd. Nov. 5, 1952 [Nov. 6, 1951]. No. 25971/51. Class 97(1) Cylindrical cells which contain the lens or lenses, particularly the objective lenses of angle-measuring instruments, are located in a groove in the mount and are retained therein by resilient means so as to permit longitudinal movement of the cells in the groove. A slow motion device may be provided for moving the cell along the groove. More than one cell may be mounted in the same groove or, where the cells have different diameters, a stepped groove may be provided. As shown, the cell 2, containing the objective lens 3, is located in a 90 degrees V-groove in the mount 1. The bridge 4 carries a retaining spring 5 and the cell can be clamped after adjustment by means of the screw 6. A fine adjustment is provided by the fixed screw 7 on which the milled head 8 rotates. This head engages a groove in the cell, such that a slow motion is imparted to the cell on rotating the head 8.
