Abstract

709,082. Ammunition projectiles. ROCHAT, J. Feb. 4, 1952 [Feb. 6, 1951], No. 2931/52. Class 9(1) A compound explosive charge for a grenade, shell or the like comprises a main charge a housed in a body b having annular passages e communicating with a surrounding auxiliary charge c within the shell casing f. The passages e of which there may be any number, are connected by conduits d and an axial boring in the body b. When detonation is initiated in the boring g it is conveyed through the conduits d filled with detonating explosive to the passages e whence the main and auxiliary charges are detonated simultaneously. The axial boring g and the conduits d may be replaced by pressure-resisting cylinders filled with a gas and a detonating agent may be arranged to accelerate a piston in the boring g to compress the gas and produce simultaneous explosion of the charges a, c at several points.
