Abstract

705,845. Snap-action switches. JANSEN, B. March 22, 1951, No. 6936/51. Class 38(5) The contact-carrying shaft M of an on-load tapchanging switch is moved from one position to the other by a torque which is initially large, which then decreases to a small value at and after the .middle position, and which finally increases to a medium value. A link A fixed to the shaft has a slot L engaged by a roller R on a link B pivoted at m, the link B being latched in its end positions by levers Kl<SP>1</SP>, Kl<SP>2</SP>. A spring F, which connects the link B to a lever D also pivoted at m, is stressed by an operating member C which eventually strikes a lever 4 to cause the operative latch to be released, so that the link B flies over to its other position under the action of the spring, taking the link A with it. The changing angle between links B, A and the changing lever arm of link A due to movement of the roller R in slot L are stated to produce the desired torque from the spring which is described as having an inherent straight line characteristic dropping from the initial large value to the final medium value.
