393,243. Wrenches. NOOMEN, L. J., and TIJKEN, R., 81, Bilderdijklaan, Rijswijk, Holland. Aug. 24, 1931, No. 23807. Convention date, Nov. 26, 1930. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 61 (iii). ] A wrench with a ratchet - like action and which in the first four examples shown is reversible for operation in either direction comprises a split band like member, a nut ring rotatably mounted therein and an operating lever associated with the split member so as to cause the latter .to grip the nut member when the lever is operated. In the construction shown in Fig. 1 the split member b<2> in which the nut ring a is mounted terminates in spaced legs b<3> provided with inclined slots engaging pins d on the operating lever c, the direction of drive being determined by setting a rotatable trigger so that an eccentric pin e thereon engages one or other of springs f carried by the lugs b<3>. In the modification, Fig. 3, the legs b<3> are divided in the plane at right-angles to the axis of rotation ; reversing is effected by a pin g on the trigger. Figs. 5 and 7 show other reversible constructions. In another construction, Fig. 9, the split member b<2> is contracted on the nut ring a by a projection on the end of the lever c, free play being taken up by a spring/. Fig. 11 shows a similar construction with a set screw g for regulating the amount of play.
